Employment Ideas

By now you should have noticed a slew of images throughout the site linking to articles and videos on everything from small business start-ups to entrepreneurship programs. Each one reveals a story about one or more ex-felons who 1) had an "idea" and willing to "think outside the box", 2) possessed enough desire to turn that "idea" into a goal and develop plans for reaching it; 3) maintained a level of resolve to "follow through" with those plans until that "idea" became a reality. Now, they either own or operate businesses enabling them to support themselves as well as their families. In many cases they also manage to support others in that some of them employ other staff and/or workers. Just think - such beautiful stories, and all achieved while obeying the law! PICRe is not here to preach or teach - just to impart relevant information with a little encouragement. Meanwhile let us move on to regular avenues of employment.

Without doubt supporting one's self (and family if you have one) is probably the most important factor having direct impact on increasing one's likelihood of success in today's society; yet, it (employment) can also be quite difficult to secure depending on one's background (criminal history). Though not many major corporations are known to hire ex-felons, some of them - as well as medium and small sized companies have great track records for hiring. Such employers may not advertise this fact, but you'll never know unless you network with others in the work force and ask questions. Get out there! Learn whose hiring who, when, and where. The rest is on you. Click here to get a few proven tips to help increase your chance of success. To get you started, below is a partial list of businesses and temp agencies known to hire aplicants with felony backgrounds.
